Husband sleeps, porch fixed at Car Title Loans in Tarrant

Friday, February 6th, 2009

I just saw on Animal Planet that a snail can sleep for three years. Clearly, those are guys not in a hurry.

Like my husband. He likes his naps. Which means he’s not much of a home improvement kind of guy. We needed to have our front porch repaired last year and it didn’t look like old Rumplestiltkskin was going to do it.

So I called a carpenter and got his estimate.  $2200. That was big cash given other circumstances in our life. I called my cousins and friends from all over – in Warrior, Mountain Brook, Homewood, Hoover, Pleasant Grove, Argo – and they pretty much decided my best bet was in my Corolla. Not to sell it, but to get a car title loan at Car Title Loans in Tarrant.

It was easy, fast and I managed to get my sleeping husband to cover the payback on the loan. Most important, the porch looks great and no one’s going to get hurt stepping into a rotten step. It’s amazing what a woman can do while her husband sleeps.

Smart people use Car Title Loans in Homewood

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

You gotta wonder how people get into some situations. Like the other day I was reading that on average, 100 people choke to death on ballpoint pens every year. How does that happen?

I have a brother who used to use thing like pens to scoop up peanut butter for a little snack. Don’t ask me why. It defies explanation.

That same brother doesn’t know how to manage money. When he’s out of cash, he lets his bills go and ends up paying penalties everywhere. His bills are bigger the next month and for months to follow.  Crazy.

When I’m short of money, I get loan on my car from a car title loan company.  I go on the internet and click into Car Title Loans in Homewood. Easy, fast, money gets there in a day, and my bills are paid on time. I pay it off as I can, and it doesn’t involve penalty fees. And I eat my peanut butter on bread, no pens involved.

Car Title Loans in Richton Park

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

I learned in music school that no one is listening until you make a mistake. It seems to work like that in life too.

I was working in a customer service telemarketing position for nine months last year, the whole time following the scripts, doing exactly as told. It was money. And then one day I get this guy on whose name was Alf.  Really, like the character in the TV show.  So I just kinda fit into the conversation something about him liking cat juice. He totally didn’t get it, but I just started that snorting kind of laugh. Totally lost it.

And of course that was one of the calls that my supervisor was listening in on. I got fired on the spot.

Needless to say, this created a financial problem, just when I had a trip planned to see a buddy in Texas.  What to do?  Ever the resourceful fellow, I went online and found a respectable car title loans store, Richton Park Title Loans. I liked how it was simple and I got my money in less than two days. That car title loan got me to Austin, where I’m thinking about moving to after this winter.

By the way Richton Park is near Matteson, Park Forest, Tinley Park, Floosmoor, and Homewood.

Car Title Loans in Olympia Fields

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Remember half the people you know are below average.

Like my mother in law.  She thinks that her son is perfect.  He played football in college. He majored in business. He has entrepreneurial instincts.

The smartest thing her son did was marry me. Because he hasn’t proven his business skills yet.  Love the guy, but I sure wish he could get the career thing going.

Fortunately, I have my career and keep the bills paid. But we ran into a bump in the road last year with some damage to my car, which was hard because I only carried liability, not collision insurance.  So I was looking at a $700 in damage to a car with a book value of $5000.  Worth it to fix?  Well, yeah, it was mostly cosmetic damage –the car works fine. I didn’t have a decent down payment for a new car, and credit on car loans is tight as it is.

So I looked into getting a car title loan. My mother in law thinks they’re a bad idea. I think driving a junker in the south suburbs is a bad idea. And when I thought about it, it really was a responsible idea — fix up the car that’s paid for instead of taking on a whole lot more new debt with a newer car.  So I went to Olympia Fields Title Loans, found a loan I liked and a repayment schedule I could manage.  I got the car fixed and paid it off in no time.

I’m part of the above average group, I think.

By the way, Olympia fields in near Flossmoor, Homewood, Glenwood, Hazel Crest, and Lynwood.

I knew to shop smart online with Homewood Title Loans

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Because I am a man, I can be relied upon to purchase basic groceries at the store, like milk or bread. I cannot be expected to find exotic items like “Cumin” or “Tofu”. For all I know these are the same thing. And never, under any circumstances, should anyone expect me to pick up anything for which “feminine hygiene product” is a euphemism.

Sheesh. In my house, we really need to stick to our division of responsibilities. My wife, she’s good at her job, with the kids, with cooking and shopping. I’m in charge of the cars, household finances, the house and yard, the dog, and which brand of beer we keep on hand. All that and I work full time as well. We worked this arrangement out years ago.

So when we ran into a bad patch with money last year – medical emergencies, need I say more? – it was up to me to figure out what to do. Our credit cards were maxed, my commissions were down, we don’t have home equity because we bought the house in 2005, at the height of the market. And here in Homewood, it’s not like people talk much about what to do when the piggy bank is empty. I went on the Internet, searching for car title loans. But I didn’t want to have to go to one of those stores converted from a burger restaurant. What I found was online, Homewood Title Loans. They give you a car title loan based on the value of your paid-for car, and that was exactly our situation.

I got the money in a day, just beating the payment-due date by hours – and no shopping for tofu or tampons required.

By the way, Homewood is near Matteson, Olympia Fields, Hazel Crest, Markham, and Glenwood.
