I still miss my ex-wife, but my aim is improving.

JUST KIDDING. Although when I saw that guy in Iraq throw a shoe at Bush, I felt I understood the sentiment. She took the house.  She took the fun car.  She even has a half share on the house up in Wisconsin, and forever forward I have to clear with her when I get to use it.

This whole divorce mess really set me back. And I’ve had problems covering my emergency expenses, including buying a new TV for my new bachelor pad. But in some ways, it’s good I kept the older, PAID FOR car. Because it’s eligible for a car title loan, which I needed badly and found on the internet at Villa Park Title Loans.  They are very responsive and make it an easy process. But I got pink slipped the next week.

This did not come at a good time.  I was getting socked with some medical bills and then the refrigerator went out.  My severance and unemployment weren’t enough to cover everything, and my credit cards were maxed as was my home equity loan.  So I went to the Internet and found Glendale Heights Title Loans, a car title loan company. Now, at my new job, I zip the lip in front of the boss.  So much easier this way.

But I recently learned an important lesson in personal finance. I had allowed my credit card charges to build up. My husband and I decided we still deserved vacations last year, and some good clothes for work, and dinners out in restaurants in Chicago. And then wham!, all of a sudden we ran into some big financial hits that took away our ability to pay some credit card bills on time. It was then that I noticed our interest charges had climbed to 28%!

So I went on the Internet and learned about car title loans. Both our cars are older (five years and six years), but the good thing is they’re paid for. We figured out we could borrow against our car title and do better with that than carry those big credit card balances. My friends couldn’t believe it. So I sent them to our car title loan lender, DuPage County Title Loans. Two of my friends did the same thing we did. It’s easy, takes about ten minutes to do, and you get your money fast — in time to pay off the ugliest of bills.

Bald men and their driver’s licenses are something I still don’t know.  But car title loans I understand and recommend.

My brother is blinded by blondes. I swear, he has dated at least half of every blonde bimbo in DuPage County. If you put them all in a room together, the noise would be bimbabble. If you told them the sky was down, they’d be bimbaffled. They all wear bimbait (short skirts, sheer blouses, etc.). He meets them at the Bimbars in Naperville.

He’s just as dumb when it comes to finances. He was all bent out of shape a few months ago because he had a major car repair bill on his Saab Turbo (it seems the Turbos cost about $5000 to replace) right when he was trying to buy a house. He was stretched really thin, didn’t want to run up big charges on his cards because of how it would affect his credit rating. Yet he was in no position to buy a new car, either.

My hunky husband is great to look at. Etcetera. And I’m a happy woman. But no one pretends he’s the sharpest knife in the drawer. When we were first dating, I told him I would only engage in safe sex. His response? “You mean that’s when we lock the door?”

So needless to say, he’s also not the breadwinner around the house. Typically, that’s my job. And it doesn’t hurt that I’m a lawyer. My Chrysler is paid for, so I have value in it – but I wasn’t about to sell it because I’ll obviously need it when I get a new job. I’m working part time again in Chicago and paying off that loan just fine. And with more time at home, I get to enjoy my marriage a little more. With the door locked, and sometimes not .
