My grandmother has been collecting crystal Monarch butterflies for what seems like centuries now, and she keeps them in a wonderfully archaic display case in her basement where the humidity is controlled so as to not smoke the crystal.  As of two months ago, she had 139 butterflies in the most pristine condition.  Now she has 139 butterflies, but minus the pristine condition.  You see, I was at her house helping her with her chores, and she asked me to bring a pack of Pepsi up from the basement.  When I got down there I bumped the thermostat and humidifier on the case, and within a week, the butterflies were all a dull yellowish color.  Luckily my grandma’s eyesight is not that good, but nonetheless I felt bad and wanted to restore all of them to their original condition.  The cost was like $1500… Yikes!  I wouldn’t have that kind of cash unless my grandmother passed away and left me with an inheritance (minus the less-than-perfect butterflies!).
